Vicomtech’s Digital Media team gives the 5G Architectures for Industry 4.0 seminar

On October 30, the Vicomtech Digital Media team gave the 5G Architectures for Industry 4.0 seminar organized by the IMH Advanced Manufacturing Center.

On October 30, the Vicomtech Digital Media team gave the 5G Architectures for Industry 4.0 seminar organized by the IMH Advanced Manufacturing Center. The program covered different technological, operational, scientific and regulatory aspects related to the modules involved in an intelligent and adaptive communications infrastructure that responds to the needs of different applications in the field of Industry 4.0.

The attendees had the opportunity to obtain information to understand to what extent various 5G technologies can respond to the communication needs of innovative production processes as well as their state of maturity. In addition, they acquired enough notions to design an architecture with a focus on the specific needs and characteristics of communications. On the other hand, the researchers who participated in the training provided the attendees with a map of technologies that they can use in each module and explained different lines of research, development plans for the standard as well as its extension.

Through several practical sessions that were developed throughout a working day, it was possible to meet the objectives set and the perspective of 5G technologies and their future applications in the audience was broadened.

The sessions given in the seminar that took place on October 30, 2020 in online format were specifically the following:

  • 5G basics
  • 5G Use Cases for Industry 4.0
  • 5G architecture and technologies (Radio, Backhaul & Core, IoT communications pipeline, Standardization bodies, WGs & Releases, Network slicing & son Architecture for Industry 4.0)
  • International Initiatives
  • 5G Research and Industry 4.0
  • 6G in Industry 4.0

The Vicomtech team that participated in the training is made up of researchers Dr. Angel Martín,  Ricardo Marco,  Roberto Viola,  Zaloa Fernandez, Juncal Uriol and AlvaroGabilondo.
